September and October are considered the lull periods but, nevertheless, northerly or westerly winds and thunderstorms can occur in the evening. Sea conditions change from calm to light swells and vice versa in the lull periods.

Strong winds and heavy showers occur during the Northeast monsoon that takes place between November and February. At these times low cumulus clouds cover the sky and the atmosphere seems monochrome. Beaches on the east side are exposed to high waves and landing on the beach is difficult and risky. The ideal season to visit the Perhentian Islands is from March to October. There are no meteorological wonders or miracles when it comes to the weather in the Perhentian or other islands in the tropics. It’s just unpredictable. Anyway, part of the idea of being on a tropical island is to experience its climate to the fullest. Rainy days are unavoidable even in the dry season.
